About

Hi, I'm Florence, travel blogger since 2016

I’m the creator and main author of Reporter on the Road.

I’m curious by nature and passionate about travel, photography and writing. I love exploring the world, discovering places that are a little off the beaten track, meeting people along the way and stumbling upon those places that make you wonder, “Why haven’t I come here sooner?”

I was born in Liège, Belgium, but when I was three, my parents moved to Friuli, in northern Italy, where I grew up between two countries and cultures. Perhaps that’s why I’ve always felt a little at home everywhere, and nowhere in particular. It’s also shaped my curiosity about other ways of life and my desire to explore the world.

My travels have taken me to some incredible places, but it’s the people I meet, the unexpected discoveries and the little moments that stay with me the longest. Staying with locals, sharing a meal and a conversation, taking the train instead of flying when possible, or simply wandering through the streets of a village — that’s what travel means to me.

I also believe you don’t have to travel to the other side of the world to feel a sense of escape. Sometimes, all it takes is looking at familiar places with fresh eyes.

And then, in 2025, I became a mum! Since then, we’ve been exploring the world as a family of three. Travelling with our little mini reporter means a new kind of adventure, with a little more planning, a few compromises and plenty of exciting firsts.

Welcome to my little corner of the world! 🧡

Reporter on the Road: a decade of travel stories

It all started in India, towards the end of 2015.

I spent a few months in Pune, near Mumbai, volunteering with an NGO. I started a little blog to share my daily adventures and discoveries with family and friends back home.

A few months later, Reporter on the Road was born.

What began as a passion project gradually grew into something much bigger. More stories, more readers, my first collaborations… and a growing community of curious travellers.

Today, the blog brings together more than 200 articles, years of travel stories and a community of readers who share my love of discovery.

From solo travel to family adventures

Reporter on the Road has grown alongside me: from my first solo adventures to trips as a couple, and now our travels as a family.

I’ve explored new destinations, filled countless memory cards with photographs and met people whose stories have stayed with me long after returning home.

This blog is a way of sharing those experiences, the practical advice I’ve picked up along the way and the discoveries that have made me see the world a little differently.

Above all, I hope it inspires you to set off on your own adventures, whatever travelling looks like for you.

My approach to travel

I’m drawn to the road less travelled, to places that don’t always make it into the guidebooks and to experiences that bring me closer to local people and their everyday lives.

I love staying with locals, travelling by train when I can, exploring on foot and remaining curious about everything around me.

But responsible travel isn’t about following a perfect set of rules. I enjoy discovering lesser-known destinations, but that doesn’t mean avoiding popular places at all costs. I love travelling by train, but I know it’s not always possible.

For me, it’s about making more conscious choices whenever we can, respecting the people and places we encounter, and remembering that every destination is home to people with their own stories, cultures and ways of life.

Through Reporter on the Road, I want to share that curiosity and encourage you to discover the world in all its richness and diversity.

On the blog, you’ll find:

  • Travel itineraries and practical tips to help you plan your next adventure.

  • Ideas for local getaways in Belgium, across Europe and further afield.

  • Authentic experiences, homestays and opportunities to discover local cultures.

  • Advice and inspiration for solo travellers, train travel and family adventures.

  • Ideas for travelling more responsibly and seeing familiar places in a new light.

My aim isn’t to tell you how to travel. It’s to open up new possibilities, share useful advice and inspire you to explore the world in your own way.

Because travel doesn’t have to mean going far. Sometimes, it simply means looking a little closer.

“The only true voyage would be not to travel to new landscapes, but to see the world through different eyes…”

Let's work together

Do you work in tourism, represent a destination or accommodation, or run a brand or project you’d love more people to discover?

Let’s create something together!

Since 2019, I’ve been collaborating with tourism organisations, accommodation providers and brands to tell stories, showcase places and share meaningful experiences with my community.

What I love most about a collaboration isn’t simply promoting a product or destination. It’s finding the right angle, highlighting what makes your project special and creating content that genuinely inspires people to discover it.

I’m particularly drawn to projects that align with my values: responsible tourism, local experiences, welcoming accommodation with a story to tell, and initiatives that celebrate people and the places they call home.

For me, a great collaboration starts with a genuine connection and a shared desire to tell a story worth telling.

I’m always happy to explore tailor-made ideas when they align with my editorial approach and values.

Why work with Reporter on the Road ?

Since 2016, I’ve been building an editorial world centred on travel, encounters and discovery. I know my audience, take the time to prepare my content carefully and aim to share useful information, personal stories and thoughtful photography.

I’m also a digital communications professional, with experience in content creation, web writing and SEO. This allows me to approach collaborations from both the traveller’s perspective and the brand’s point of view.

Above all, I value the trust of my readers. I choose collaborations that make sense for me and that I can talk about with honesty and enthusiasm.
